Spirited Away is a fantasy themed Japanese anime written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki. It follows the life of Chihiro and her parents who are travelling to a new neighborhood. As something unusual happens to them and they enter into the world of Kami, which are spirits in Japanese folklore. Her parents by turned into pig after an encounter with a witch named Yubaba. She takes up a job at Yubaba’s bathhouse to find a way to free herself and bring her parents back to normal.
It follows Chihiro’s growth from a little apprehensive girl to a courageous fighter. It portrays aesthetic animations, supernatural occurrences and transcends you into a dream like world. Spirited away was released in 2001 and can be streamed on Netflix. This film is a masterpiece and definitely a must watch.
