According to a review, Nope is an ambitious sci-fi, horror mashup which is cinematically rich, perfectly cast and solidly entertaining. Two siblings who are holding up a hose ranch in California discover something in the sky which seems to be wonderful and sinister at the same time. The major theme of the movie is to treat animals with a high degree of respect. This theme of animal abuse was prevalent from the start of the movie itself by the portrayal and the mistreatment of the horse, Lucky on the set of a commercial.
Featuring animals like horses and chimpanzees is a reminder of how we treat anything that doesn’t qualify as human says Peele in an interview.
The film starts with fading away of bible verses and scares out the audience with the very first scene with a chimpanzee on the set of a TV show, wearing a birthday hat covered in blood. Jumpscares like these can often be seen in the film to cut off the tension created earlier.
