by Where the Crawdads Sing is an American romance/ murder mystery adapted from a book by Delia Owens. Based on the Southern town of North Carolina. It follows the life of the Marsh girl nicknamed Kaya, who lives with her family near the swamp. Due to her father being physically abusive, her mother and siblings escape leaving her behind, alone. She faces abandonment as a kid and is left with her watercolors, canvas, shells and feathers that once belonged to her mother. She is laughed at and ridiculed at school and nicknamed the marsh girl. She learns to rely on herself for food by digging up mussels and selling them to her friendly neighbor, Mrs. Mabel.
She meets Tate a former classmate, they become friends and soon their friendship blossoms into romance. Kaya’s perfect little world stops after Tate leaves her to attend university and she is accused for the murder of Chase Andrews. This movie is a test of Kaya’s courage and her ability to embrace solitude and wilderness, essence of true love and staying strong in the face of adversity.
