Inmates in an ultramodern prison led by bright visionary Steve Abnesti receive commuted sentences in exchange for wearing a surgically implanted device that delivers dosages of mind-altering medications. Bars, cells, and orange jumpsuits are all absent. In Spiderhead, volunteers who are in prison are free to be who they are. till they aren’t. They are occasionally an improved variant. Need to relax a bit? There is medication for that. No words to express? There is a medication for that as well. However, Abnesti’s studies begin to test the boundaries of free will completely when two subjects, Jeff and Lizzy, create a bond. As a result, their road to redemption takes a more complicated turn.
